This years’ festivities include the annual Tucker Parade, pancake breakfast and 5k run in addition to the Main Street Market which features live music, arts and crafts vendors, food and activities for children. The Tucker Day celebration will be followed by a cruise-in on Main Street featuring both antique and special interest cars and motorcycles.

Plan to get to Main Street early in order to watch the parade, enjoy freshly made pancakes and purchase a souvenir t-shirt. The 2008 Tucker Day shirts were a hot commodity and unfortunately sold our long before the days activities came to an end. Bands will play throughout the day and the festival usually runs early morning until around 4pm at which point the street market is replaced with the cars for the cruise-in.

Attendance at the Annual Tucker Day festivities is a wonderful way to show your support for local area businesses and the revitalization of Tucker’s Downtown Core Area. In addition, the proceeds of the pancake breakfast support the 2008 Georgia State Champion Tucker High School Football team and Quarterback Club while the 5K run benefits the Tucker High School Marching Band and Booster Club.

The weather was outstanding and vendors sales were very brisk beginning at 8:30am. The GHS vendors included many local and regional growers of hostas, ferns, Japanese maples and other companion plants in addition to vendors that offered unique garden accessories and the Georgia Daylily Society.

The show was well organized and had a record number of entries for the Artistic Exhibition. As one of the oldest local Hosta Societies in the United States, the GHS holds the distinction of having the most local shows of any group within the American Hosta Society. GHS holds these shows as an educational project to help introduce the general public to the genus hosta. Hosta leaves are displayed in vases and are judged by panels of judges accredited by The American Hosta Society.

The Hosta Show and Sale was held on the same day as the “Tucker Garden Tour” hosted by the Tucker Historical Society and allowed gardening enthusiasts a rare opportunity to combine a plant show, garden tours and shopping in one day.
