The Main Street Tucker Alliance is hosting the 55th annual “Tucker Day Celebration” on May 10, 2008.
In 1958, President Dwight Eisenhower signed the bill which made Alaska a state, stereo records went on sale for the first time and Elizabeth Taylor was wrapping up only her 3rd divorce. (with then-husband Michael Todd) Meanwhile, a proud band of Tucker residents were sealing a time capsule, set to be revealed a distant 50 years into the future.
The Tucker Historical Society and the DeKalb Historical Society will be cracking open the time capsule for a rare glimpse into the history of Tucker and DeKalb County at 10:00 a.m.
The Tucker Day Celebration is renowned for its annual offering of live music, food, arts, crafts, parade, children’s activities and games. This year, several additional events have been added, including: a comprehensive health fair, pancake breakfast,5K road race, a cruise-in and Walter Reeves, Host of WSB’s Lawn & Garden Show.
